SILKS + FLOW
A dialogue of motion and play with Mariana for Mariana Movement Pilates.

L
When Mariana first approached me about creating imagery for Mariana Movement Pilates, I assumed it would be a familiar studio shoot. Clean lines. Controlled poses. Precision.
But as we scouted locations, Mariana gently corrected that assumption, “That’s not what Pilates means to me.” She spoke instead about movement and play, strength and grace. Togetherness and wholeness.

So I came to her with an unconventional idea: what if we played with fabrics?
What started as a visual idea became a shared process as Mariana learned to dye natural fabrics and we worked with her partner to layer them in a boathouse to create an environment rather than a backdrop. A space where we could begin to play with light, shadows, fabrics, and flow.
This shoot became less about form and more about flow.
Less about holding positions, more about inhabiting them.

Movement as play. Strength as FLOW.
